Dirty Turtle Supporters and Guests,
It is hard to believe that 2012 is almost here and 2011 is almost gone. I remember this time last year wondering how DTOR would fare in 2010 and how the DirtyTurtle word would spread. We hosted several events this past year and plan to add more events for 2012.
Here is a short recap of some of our 2011 events:
January: New Year's Day Ride. Trails were covered with 5 plus inches of snow as was the old parking lot. It was a challenge just to enter the trail system. It was a great way to kick off the year with great people and great riding. We also hosted ST Balderick's Children's Cancer Ride and raised over $1000.00 for the cause.
March: Our original parking lot up front was closed off and a new gravel access road was put in allowing us to expand our parking facility. We also expanded our primitive camping areas and increased RV and trailer parking.
April: One Year Birthday Bash. With a new parking area and freshly hung signs, DTOR was blasted with over 3 inches of rain in 5 hours. It didn't stop folks from piling in. Max from Moab Offroad gave away a ton of goodies and DTOR provided yr and weekend passes. We also hosted 1 of our 2 yearly night rides.
May: We put in a tire pile obstacle and developed a series of new trails including some buggy trails.
June: June 4th was National Trail Days. DTOR gave away KY Discount cards to state parks.
July: Brian Fisher with Fisher's ATV World came to film an episode for his 2011 Keepin It Real Tour. We had an amazing turnout. Show will be featured Dec. 26th on the Outdoor Channel.
August: DTOR hosted K&I's 40th Anniversary Picnic. Another huge turnout.
September: DTOR hosted its first KING OF THE TURTLE Event. We paid out over $6500.00 in prize money. Rusty Bray with Torchmate Racing took home the Unlimited Class $2000.00 first prize.
October: October was a big month for DTOR. Tim Cameron and his Showtime buggy came to try and take the DTOR $1500.00 Bounty Challenge. Tim made one of the three hills and rolled several times. Tim is an amazing driver and vows to return to take DTOR's Bounty. We also hosted out 2nd Annual Boo Bash Event and our 2nd night ride of the yr. This was truly a great day and night of riding by all in attendance. Good times for sure.
November: Black Friday Weekend Ride was a great weekend to ride on bellies full of turkey and stuffing.
DTOR is already hard at work planning out the 2012 riding season and bringing more amenities in for our valued guests.
